The Standard Edition of the Complete Psychological Works of Sigmund Freud is a complete edition of the works of Sigmund Freudthe founder of psychoanalysis. It was translated from German under the general direction of James Stracheyin colaboration with Anna Freudassisted by Alix Strachey and Alan Tyson. The Standard Edition (usually abbreviated as IF) consists of 24 volumes, and was originally published by Hogarth Press at the London in 1953-1974. Unlike the German Gesammelte WerkeThe IF contains critical footnotes by the editors. This editorial material was later included in the German language studienausgabe Freud’s edition.
