This should of been Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, it is so embarassing a Multi-Billion dollar company is getting their butt kicked by fans when it comes to quality gameplay and better concepts.

And Pokémon fans got the nerve to say that Level Scaling isn't important when it comes to open world games, bro it is literally called open world for a reason, you should challenge any gym leader in any order without getting stomped.

I think the best part about Rom Hacks is how they make them out to be better than the original game, to be honest im not a huge fan of the GB and GBA games, i only play these games because of the rom hacks. Why because theirs just so many amazing things that rom hacks do better, that new saying Rom Hacks do what Nintendo dont!

I miss this playthrough so bad lol. I remember watching it as it was coming out way back at my old job I hated but it really got me through the days listening to you and your brother argue and shit

This looks like something I could really enjoy but I want to point out how helpful this video is, it's very detailed and gives a full picture of the game and it's features

Crystal Clear is pretty fun. I just started a playthrough recently. I made a Gary/Blue/Gen1Rival lookalike with purple hair (funnily enough, when you actually meet him, he commented on how I looked just like him). I started in Kanto, specifically Pallet Town, because why not? One of the first things I did was use the new method of chaining to Shiny Hunt a Pikachu…which I ended up not using because it's stats kinda sucked. Went with a max DV Pikachu I also caught instead. Named it SuperChu. It now knows Fly, because I don't know. I just recently went into the Cerulean Cave where Mewtwo usually is….way before I should. The Pokemon in there are level 45-50, and I'm at around 25. But I managed to actually catch a couple of the Pokemon in there with some Great Balls. A level 45 Tentacruel replaced my level 15 Poliwag as my water Pokemon and surf-mon. A level 50 Primeape also helped me beat Misty. Misty, by the way, is still annoying as ever. Her Lapras and Starmie suck.

I also bought the house in Cerulean City because I think Cerulean is where I spent the most time at in Gen 1, so it feels home-y. Now I gotta figure out how the house decorating works. Never done it before, so I have no idea. Gonna have to look it up.

I have 5 badges now, along with Fly and Surf (had to google where to get 'em. Turns out they're both just freely handed to you in specific locations if you have enough badges). Gotta find CUT still. Damn cuttable bushes in my way everywhere.

Also, gotta love the trade-back NPC, now I have a nice Alakazam.

I actually really like the open-world-ness of the game. Like, I've already played Gen 1 and 2 to death. I played 'em when they first came out, multiple times. And I've played them more recently too. So not being forced to follow the same exact path I've taken so many times before, is nice. Lets me explore more and actually care about exploring because the hack adds a lot of little things off the normal paths. Like I found an NPC that gave me a shiny Ditto, and there was an NPC that told me all the Pokemon on the specific route I was on, along with their spawn rate. The whole thing is helped by being able to travel between Kanto and Johto any time you want, and even being able to Fly ANYWHERE without having been there before. The only real downside for me, is that I don't remember where every gym is in both regions, so if I'm doing the gyms out of order (which I totally am, because the hack lets you do that since the gyms scale to the amount of badges you have), I have a hard time remember which towns I still need to beat the gyms in.

The Quality of Life stuff is nice too. Like the option to make battles load quicker (skipping the intro animation, and outro text), and the Nurse Joy text skip. Even nicer though, is the option to "quick continue", where if you start the game OR do that Start+Select+A+B reset, it loads the game automatically, skipping the whole game intro and menu.

AND, here's a quick tip for anyone playing: The Nugget Brigade (they've been moved up to the path on the way to Bill's house instead of the bridge) can be fought as MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT. They seem to scale with your badges too, but they're way easier than a gym. You get quite a bit of money, and more EXP than fighting wild Pokemon. You also get a Nugget every single time you beat 'em all. Add in the Amulet Coin and you can get 2-3000 dollars per-trainer, plus the 5000 from the nugget each time. Great way to level and get money at the same time. That's how I managed to afford the 40,000 dollar house in Cerulean. It kinda feels like an exploit to be honest, but the hack purposely made 'em so you could re-fight them whenever, so why not?
