Pleomorphic sarcomatoid carcinoma (PSC) is a rare and aggressive type of malignant cancer that arises from the epithelial lining of the lungs, pleura, or other organs. It is characterized by malignant cells with a variety of shapes and sizes, including spindle cells, epithelial cells, and giant cells. The exact cause of PSC is unknown, but it is thought to be related to environmental and genetic factors.

Primary cutaneous carcinosarcoma (PCC) is a rare type of skin cancer that arises from the epidermis. It is characterized by malignant cells with a mix of sarcoma and carcinoma features. The exact cause of PCC is unknown, but it is thought to be related to environmental and genetic factors. Treatment options for PCC include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.

Specialty Oncology

sarcomatoid carcinomasometimes referred to as pleomorphic carcinomaIt is a relatively uncommon form of Cancer whose malignant cells have histological, cytological or molecular properties of both epithelial tumors (“carcinoma“) and mesenchymal tumors (“sarcoma“). It is believed that sarcomatoid carcinomas develop from more common forms of epithelial tumors.

types

Sarcomatoid carcinoma is a rare type of lung tumor in the poorly differentiated category Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Based on its histological characteristics, it can be classified into giant cell carcinoma (consists almost completely of giant cells), fusiform carcinoma (consists almost completely of spindle cells), pleomorphic carcinoma (at least 10% spindle/giant cells or consists of giant and spindle cells only), carcinosarcoma (mixture of NSCLC and true sarcoma) and biphasic lung blastoma (consists of epithelial element of embryonic and primitive type mesenchymal stroma).

Locations

Sarcomatoid carcinomas have been identified in the small intestine in rare cases. They may have both epithelioid and mesenchymal properties or be composed only of mesenchymal cells. spindle cellsand are negative for CD117 and DOG1.

Some cases of sacromatoid carcinoma of the larynx are resistant to radiotherapy.

Epidemiology

This type of tumor has less than 1% incidence of all primary tumors lung cancer. Primary lung tumors arising from lung tissues, not metastasis from other parts of the body.
