Justina Blakeney is an American designer, artist, interior designer, author, and speaker known for his colorful and vibrant bohemian style. She founded a housewares and home decor brand Jungalow. Your first book, The New Bohemians: Cool and Collected Homes, was a New York Times Best Seller.

childhood and education

Blakeney grew up in Berkeley, California. Her father is African-American and Native American, and her mother is of Eastern European Jewish descent. She claims that this multi-ethnic background and upbringing in California influenced her bohemian aesthetic.

She graduated from UCLA in 2001 with a BA in World Arts and Cultures. In her first year of university, she went to Italy to study fashion and communication. The experience in Italy saw her return to Italy after graduation, and she enrolled in polymoda– a fashion school.

Career

Blakeney named his design and lifestyle blog “Jungalow”, a combination of jungle and bungalow. Using the blog and social media as platforms, Blakeney has created a furry rug collection for Loloi, a wallpaper collection with boutique Hygge & West, the Justina Blakeney Home collection with Anthropologya bed line Target, and a collection of home fabrics with Calico Corners stores. She has a line in Living Spaces and a collection of bedding, storage, lighting and small gifts for Pottery Barn Kids.

Your first book, The new bohemians: cool and orderly homes book, was released in 2015. The new bohemians: go home with good vibes, was released in October 2017. They are table books with home design photos and includes resources such as houseplant guides and design instructions.

Personal life

Blakeney lives with her husband and daughter in a 1926 apartment bungalow located in Frogtown neighborhood of Los Angeles. Her house was featured in interior decoration magazine Beautiful house.
